Week of 10/24: Community meetings

Three meetings this week, mostly in East Cambridge / Kendall.

On another note, don’t forget our petition delivery party next Monday the 31st!

Also, send in an application to be on an Envision Cambridge working group (Housing, Climate and Environment, Economy, and Mobility.) Will be good to have someone with a biking / walking / public trans perspective in any of the groups. Groups will meet approx. 5 times in the first half of 2017.  Details here.


Tuesday, October 25: Planning Board Meeting 7:00 PM

ATTN: 02142 & 02141, users of First Street

Reviewing the North Point project in East Cambridge (postponed from last week). The project includes protected bike lanes on First St and un-protected on all other streets. Materials here (look at Oct 11, 2016 Transportation materials)


Tuesday, October 25: Kendall Square Mobility Task Force Meeting 5-7 PM

Cambridge Innovation Center, 1 Broadway, Havana Room – 5th floor, Note: photo ID required to enter the building

ATTN: 02142, anyone who goes to or through Kendall

Meeting topic: Grand Junction corridor, the commuter rail path into Kendall. There were plans for a Grand Junction Path along the train tracks.

: Sixth Street Reconstruction Project Community Meeting, 6 – 7:30

ATTN: 02141 & 02142

Sixth Street, between Cambridge Street and Charles Street (outlined in red below), is scheduled for roadway work in the summer of 2017. City staff would like to work with residents to discuss possible physical changes to the road that could be incorporated into this project to slow vehicles and increase pedestrian safety. The focus of this meeting will be to hear neighbors’ concerns and provide information about options for the street.
