The September 1 primary falls during a busy end-of-summer period. If Election Day may be difficult, consider early voting or voting by mail.

August 22 Deadline to register or update your registration before the primary.
August 22–28 Early voting period for the September 1 state primary.
August 25 Deadline for your local election office to receive a vote-by-mail application.
September 1 Primary Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Unenrolled voters: Massachusetts voters registered as unenrolled may choose a Democratic primary ballot without changing their enrollment to Democratic.
