Huron Avenue

Huron Ave is a critical pathway for people riding bikes to travel between North Cambridge/Porter Square and West Cambridge/the river.

The city is reconstructing Huron between Concord and Raymond, and the bike plan designates this section as the only bike route in the area. The bike plan proposes protected bicycle lanes for the two blocks between Garden and Concord based on high traffic volume and speeds, and proposes traffic calming between Garden and Raymond where traffic volume is lower.

During rush hour, when traffic is backed up, people riding bicycles have to slalom and squeeze between parked cars or the curb and the gridlocked cars, which is neither a safe nor functional design.
